What's your Decision Lens origin story?
My old roommate works as a Property Manager and Decision Lens was in one of the buildings she managed at the time. She knew our HR Manager, Erin Federle, from the many building requests Erin put in. 😊 She also knew that I was looking for a really great place to work and at the time Decision Lens had an opening. I applied and the rest is history!
How has your role evolved over time since you’ve been here?
When I started Decision Lens I started out as an Administrative Assistant, and because of my role I had the opportunity to learn about different aspects of the company. I worked on projects with our IT team, Customer Success team, Sales team, Marketing team, Design team, and Product team. So when I got the opportunity to take a Marketing Operations position, I immediately knew it was the role for me.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
Even though I’m a Marketing major, there are things they don’t teach you in school. Some things are only learned through practical experience. Although this can be applied to all of the positions I have had in my career, I’m most proud of how I handled things that I didn’t know once I joined the Marketing team. I learned the different tools that we use on the team, specifically our CRM, and have earned the badge of “HubSpot Guru” for not just our team but for the whole company.
What is the most interesting project you've worked on here?
Planning, organizing and participating in Take Your Kid To Work Day! I used to attend with my dad when I was in school, and I remember it being one of my favorite days of the year. But after coordinating five Take Your Kid To Work Days with Decision Lens, I appreciated how invested our leadership was to making it memorable for our co-workers and their families. Getting to be on the other side of it was so much fun!
What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?
How important it is for them to stick to the process. As the Associate Director of Marketing Operations I’m here to “show you the data!” and I can’t do that (or do it accurately), if others aren’t following the process to provide the necessary information. The process is there for a reason, folks, as mundane as it may be.
What do you enjoy most about working at Decision Lens?
That we’re a small company. It allows us to wear many hats and learn new skills that are sometimes outside of our normal responsibilities. Also, when it’s a small company you know everyone and feel like a family, creating tighter bonds with co-workers.
What about the Decision Lens mission appeals most to you?
I appreciate the fact that we provide a tool that removes the subjectivity of decision-making and allows the government agencies that we work with to justify their spending.
What are you currently binge-watching or reading or listening to?
I’m currently binging The Traitors (and need them to make more episodes ASAP!), as well as reading the Silo series by Hugh Howey.
