What's your Decision Lens Origin Story?

After graduating college in late 2019 I began working at Trader Joe’s while I applied for full time jobs as an event planner. Unfortunately, when the pandemic began in 2020 it threw a wrench in my plans and nobody was hiring for the position I was looking for so I continued working at Trader Joe’s until things opened up. Once the regulations were lifted in 2021, I was able to land a job as a wedding planner (stressful!) and I worked through a full wedding season before applying to work at a large event planning software company. At this SAAS company I managed 75+ accounts and learned so much about how SAAS companies operate and how much I enjoyed working in that environment. After some time, I decided to apply to work at Decision Lens. I liked that the role was more internal/administrative focused and in a smaller, close-knit environment. The rest is history.

How has your role evolved over time since you’ve been here?

As we have moved from having an office to being a fully remote company my role has shifted quite a bit. I no longer have the office to manage but now assist with managing our remote environment and the logistics for when our employees do want to meet in person. We are still figuring out how to make this work best but our company wide meeting in January was a great way to see how we can be remote, but all still come together when needed.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

Helping spearhead the Veterans Charity Committee and absolutely crushing our goal by raising over $8,000 for Disabled American Veterans!

What is the most interesting project you've worked on here?

Decommissioning our 12,000 sq/ft office that the company had used for 9 years. Lots of stories in memories in that place!

What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?

That I am open to trying new things. If there is ever a department that needs extra hands I would love to jump on a project and assist.

What do you enjoy most about working at Decision Lens?

How open everyone’s figurative ‘doors’ are. If I ever have a question I need answered I can approach anybody, including C level employees, and get help. This has been great and always made me feel so welcome at the company.

What about the Decision Lens mission appeals most to you?

I think getting modern software into the government sector is important since it is notoriously outdated. Even though some of the changes Decision Lens helps enact may not be something we see on our side, I’m glad that our software helps streamline the decision-making process regardless.
