Data Scientist

Decision Lens is seeking a Data Scientist to join our CustomerExperience (CX) team, supporting client-facing analytics delivery across government engagements. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, responsible for developing analyses, models, and reporting that generate actionable insights for customers and support mission-critical decision-making and enhance customer experience (CX) and user experience (UX).

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Analytics and Enablement Services

  • Work directly with customers to understand business objectives, identify relevant data sources, and translate business requirements into structured data models and analytical frameworks that enable measurable, data-driven decision making.
  • Map current and future business processes, workflows, and user journeys, linking each stage to measurable performance indicators.
  • Establish baseline operational and decision performance metrics to quantify improvement over time.
  • Support client workshops, reviews, and working sessions with data analytics support.
  • Apply established methodologies and frameworks to ensure consistency and quality across engagements.

Analytics, Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Execute end-to-end analytics, including data preparation, modeling, visualization, and advanced techniques (e.g., predictive analytics and NLP).
  • Develop dashboards, automated reporting, and custom analytical outputs to support CX, UX, and mission outcomes.
  • Translate analytical results into clear findings and recommendations for client-facing deliverables.
  • Establish feedback loops using qualitative and quantitative data to monitor adoption, performance, and ROI, identify gaps and bottlenecks, and drive improvements to workflows, governance, and data structures.

Collaboration & Growth

  • Partner with Product, CX, Marketing, Sales, and Solution Engineering to share customer insights and inform product and service improvements.
  • Support internal business intelligence analytics, quarterly performance reporting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify additional opportunities where analytics or decision support capabilities can expand customer value and business expansion. 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., DataScience, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Social Science, or related discipline); Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or applied quantitative research roles, preferably in consulting or client-facing environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, SQL, and at least one BI or visualization tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis, data modeling, and analytical best practices.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical results clearly.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience using Agile or iterative delivery approaches.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Experience with federal CX/UX initiatives, IT modernization, or agency transformation programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of human-centered design and service design thinking preferred.
  • Familiarity with Decision Lens or similar decision support platforms preferred.

Location:  Washington, DC area required. Our headquarters are located in Arlington, VA. Depending on customer contract requirements, this role may require full-time work at a client site. Outside of client engagements, Decision Lens operates in a remote-first environment.
