DECISION LENS CHOSEN BY CALGARY FLAMES FOR REFINING PLAYER SELECTION PROCESS

Decision Lens, a leading provider of desktop and Web-based collaborative decision making software, has been chosen by the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames to assist with the player selection process for the coming season.

“Supporting player selection for a solid, well respected name in hockey like the Flames is part of what makes what we do both important and fun,” said Decision Lens CEO John Saaty. “The Flames are a first-class organization on the ice and off, and we’re proud to have made the cut in their effort to use technological advances in picking the best players for their roster.”

The Calgary Flames contract award marks the third arena of professional sports to which Decision Lens has lent its unique analytical decision-making expertise. The company was chosen by the Green Bay Packers football franchise to support the scouting of draft picks in the team’s last season. They also are supporting player selection for Major League Baseball’s Oakland A’s.

“When our Chief Scout, Tod Button, brought this analytical tool to the organization’s attention this past summer we were intrigued by the various ways in which the Decision Lens software would enable us to refine our scouts’ evaluations and ratings over a broad set of indices,” said Flames Acting General Manager Jay Feaster. “The system debuted at our meetings in Penticton in September and we made extensive use of the program at our recently completed mid-winter meetings in Calgary. We are confident the Decision Lens software will allow us to prioritize and order our final Draft List in a more technologically-advanced and scientific manner so as to bring greater objectivity to the player selection process.”

Recently recognized by Gartner Group as a “Cool Vendor” in the emerging field of collaborative decision making software, Decision Lens has grown at a 90%+ annual growth rate since 2005. In July the company was listed by Washington Business Journal as one of the top 25 small technology companies in the Washington metropolitan area. Inc. magazine list ranks Decision Lens as Number 68 among the fastest-rising software companies in the Washington, DC area.

Decision Lens’ clients account for a combined $92,481,200,000 in prioritized resource allocations.

The company serves numerous well-known national and international commercial clients including Petrobras, Siemens, Johnson and Johnson, Corporate Executive Board, and the NFL, among other organizations. Decision Lens software also is used widely throughout the federal government and across the Intelligence Community, with clients in the US Navy, the Joint Staff and CENTCOM.
