DECISION LENS SELECTED BY FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR CAPITAL BUDGETING PROCESS

Decision Lens, a leading provider of desktop and Web-based collaborative decision making software, has been chosen by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to prioritize research and development projects within the organization. The agreement brings the total number of transportation-related clients to 10 using Decision Lens for prioritization and resource allocation planning.

A decentralized agency, FDOT is charged with the establishment, maintenance, and regulation of public transportation in the state of Florida. FDOT oversees a state highway system of 12,093 centerline miles and 6,549 bridges; 800 aviation facilities; 28 fixed-route systems; 14 seaports; 2,796 railway miles and one tri-rail commuter rail system. It is responsible for seven districts and the Florida Turnpike System. Each district varies from the others in organizational structure, but in general each has major divisions for Administration, Planning, Production and Operations.

“With our ever-growing track record of success, Decision Lens is establishing itself as a leading authority in the prioritization of mission-critical transportation initiatives at the local, state, and national levels,” said Decision Lens CEO John Saaty. “We’re pleased to bring that same expertise to our engagement with the Florida Department of Transportation.”

The work to be done for FDOT is consistent with Decision Lens’ other initial contracts with state Departments of Transportation. For example, Decision Lens’ work with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) began with modeling priority initiatives. That engagement led to more comprehensive work in gathering information on courses of action arising from that modeling.

Decision Lens’ client base includes the mass transit agencies of many of the largest states and regions in the nation. The company worked closely with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to prioritize resources and projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Besides MNDOT, the District of Columbia, Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority (SFMTA), Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority (VTA), and Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation also use Decision Lens for resource allocation and planning.

In addition, Decision Lens software is used widely throughout state and federal government agencies and across the Intelligence Community, with clients including the US Navy, the Joint Staff and CENTCOM. Decision Lens also serves numerous well-known national and international commercial clients such as Kraft, Johnson and Johnson, Corporate Executive Board, and Superbowl-winning Green Bay Packers, among other organizations.
