DECISION LENS CHOSEN BY THE NHL’S CAROLINA HURRICANES FOR PLAYER SELECTION

Decision Lens, a leading provider of Web-based collaborative decision making software, has been selected by the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes for player selection for the coming season.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, the Carolina Hurricanes are members of the NHL’s Southeast Division, playing their home games at the 18,680-seat RBC Center. Since relocating to North Carolina in 1997 from the franchise's original location in Hartford, Connecticut, the club has advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals twice, in 2002 and again in 2006, winning the Stanley Cup in 2006.  The club also reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2009.

"Decision Lens helps our organization to prioritize and assess the mass of information and opinions that contribute to all hockey personnel decisions in a straight-forward, logical manner," explained Hurricanes' Vice President/Assistant General Manager Jason Karmanos.  "By providing another level of reassurance, Decision Lens improves the confidence level in each and every player-related decision."

“We’re pleased that professional sports teams in hockey, football and baseball have seen the unique advantage that our software can offer in making complicated decisions like player selection," said Decision Lens CEO John Saaty. "Decision Lens can help sort through the numerous criteria to come to a decision that the entire franchise can agree on and support.”

The Hurricanes are the second professional hockey team using Decision Lens’ analytical decision-making software for player selection. Earlier this year the Calgary Flames contracted with Decision Lens for the same purpose. The company was chosen by the Green Bay Packers football franchise to support the scouting of draft picks in the team’s last season. They also are supporting player selection for Major League Baseball’s Oakland A’s.

Decision Lens software is used widely throughout commercial and governmental organizations. Clients include companies such as Kraft, Johnson and Johnson, Amtrak, and Pfizer, and also the Joint Chiefs of Staff, US Navy, Army, and Air Force, USDA, and state-level transit and educational districts.
